I shared my story and provided the backdrop of how all of my history has informed my relationship with Jesus; I am a musician, a woman, an African American and ALL of me is what I bring to the table and ALL of me is what Jesus loves and receives. We are all Imago Dei and those who love Jesus have as our chief desire to continually be conformed and transformed into His likeness. The name of my sermon is "Chiseled". What was it about Isaac’s blessing over Jacob (wasn’t he totally scammed?) that was called faith from God’s perspective? Weren’t they just words and couldn’t he just have cancelled them out and released them over Esau instead? What’s with blessing, really? You might be surprised to realize the intentions of God around this concept of blessing. It was actually a part of the creation story, Noah’s story, Abraham’s story and now central for our story! Jesus taught blessing and got His friends to practice blessing. Through the Scripture, testimonies of blessing and some encouragement, catch a hold of the power of blessing! Forgiveness is a choice we are left to make daily. When we zoom into looking at forgiveness and our call to forgive others, we find that the place all forgiveness truly flows from is the cross. We explore the parable of the unmerciful servant and see how God has freely forgiven each of us and in return is calling us to freely forgive. Throughout the message, we discuss several barriers to forgiveness in our relationships and marriages and the consequences of the prison we find ourselves in when we choose unforgiveness. No matter how much you are struggling with unforgiveness; you are in good company. None of us can forgive by our own power. It is only through surrender to Jesus and the miracle of the Holy Spirit within us that has the power to forgive. Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:21-35 I. The...

As a part of our Christmas series on the Nativity, this message takes a closer look at the role of the shepherds who are the first to hear the good news, of great joy at the birth of Jesus. The message those humble shepherds received serves as a reminder for us this season that there is great joy in acceptance as the Father invites us into not only His family, but into the telling of His story of redemption as well.
