When I was in my early twenties, I belonged to a church that had a married couple as the co-senior pastors. The woman was ordained and functioned with every bit of pastoral authority as her husband. This was my first experience in a church outside of the Roman Catholic Church in which I was raised.

There are quite a number of books now on the topic of women in leadership and it is helpful to be familiar with some of the content! We have posted a bibliography of books with a short summary of each (see below), but we will also give a more in depth look at specific ones. Our team has read many books on the topic of women in leadership—both in and both of the church—and we will share our opinions on these. Since I(Dianne) always enjoy personal stories, this month I chose the to spotlight a book filled with compelling stories from BOTH men and women and how they changed their mind about women in leadership. This book does not cover all the theological bases. Other books do that very well. However, it is a fun and encouraging read and I love...

Vineyard Women is committed to sharing the inspirational stories of women leaders.  Today we share the story of Rebecca Konster. I was born and raised in the Philippines and although I've been living here for a few years now, my desire to help the kids, youth, and women in my hometown never escaped me.  I love going to the library.  One day I felt sad about the kids in my hometown. There’s no library anywhere in that town, not even in the schools.  And the students don’t have sufficient school supplies. I remember borrowing crayons, writing pads, pens and pencils from our neighbors so that I could finish my school project. I am a reader and was lucky that my godfather was working at the education department and would give my dad boxes of books for me to read. I read every...

Vineyard Women is committed to sharing the stories of women stepping out to extend the Kingdom of God in their lives.  Today, we share the story of Carli Snyder. After 18 years of moving around with my military family and being the ‘new’ person so often, I realized in college that empathy towards newcomers had grown over the years. Many of my friends were either new to Columbus or were immigrants recently moved to the country. A few years into my nursing career, I had the privilege of taking care of an Iraqi family. This was the first time I really understood the term refugee, and the first time I was excited to go back to work the next day! Paralleled with these experiences was a growing interest in the Muslim world. I was drawn to collegiate courses on Islam and...
